Demand-Aware Onboard Payload Processor Management for High Throughput NGSO Satellite Systems

High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) systems with digital payload technology have been identified as a key enabler to support 5G/6G high-data connectivity wider coverage area. The satellite community has extensively explored resource allocation methods achieve this target. Typically, these do not consider the intrinsic architecture of flexible payload, which consists multiple processors responsible for receiving, processing, and transmitting signals. This paper presents demand-aware onboard processor management scheme broadband Non-Geostationary (NGSO) satellites. In context, we formulate an optimization problem minimize number active on-board while meeting system constraints user requirements. As is non-convex, solve it in two steps. First, transform into demand-driven bandwidth fixing processors. Second, using solution, determine required methods: 1) sequential Branch & Bound method 2) Bin Packing Next Fit, First Best Fit methods. Finally, demonstrate proposed extensive numerical results.
